Doug Hartley
1950-1971

My brother, Doug, and I grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona with our mom and dad. Our parents divorced when he was 13 and he became the man of the house. Doug was outgoing and responsible with lots of friends. He attended Coronado High School and Arizona State University. Doug developed a passion for photography at a young age. He was always out and about taking photos of anything and everything he could. In school, he took photos for the school newspaper and for the year books.

He went on to become a talented freelance photographer. Freelancing for a local newspaper gave him access to a press pass which enabled him to gain entry upfront and back stage at concerts. Doug was able to combine his love of Rock and Roll and his love for photography to create the great shots you see on this web site. He went to almost every concert and got backstage any chance he could. He took hundreds of wonderful photos and had a great future.

Late one September night in 1971 a drunk driver hit him from behind while he was riding his 10-speed bike home with a friend. He died that night. My mother and I became the keeper of this collection and now it is just me. I am proud to present these previously unavailable photos to the world as a tribute to his life and work.

We are the only source for these rare photographs.

Our objective with the PhotoFlashbacks web site is to make available quality giclee prints of Doug's photos at affordable prices in an effort to "refresh our memories of that special moment in time".
